Source: Foundation for Economic Education December 29, 2017 by Matthew Lau Critics of minimum wages often argue that raising the minimum wage is a policy guided by good intentions but ultimately counterproductive due to unintended consequences – primarily, the unemployment it causes for low-skilled workers and additional costs it piles onto small businesses. But the label “unintended consequences” is not always accurate – sometimes the harm caused by minimum wages is intentional. A column by Thomas Sowell in 2013 provided several historical examples. Some people supported America’s first federal minimum wage law in 1931, he noted, because a wage floor would impede lower-wage black construction workers from competing with unionized…

The “Fuzzy” Math Sinking The U.S. Economy
By Floyd Brown The spinmeisters in the pro-Obama media were in rare form last week. Somehow, they spun a tale that the current unemployment numbers are a win for America. You see, the Labor Department says the economy gained 195,000 jobs in June. This beat economists’ expectations, the media trumpeted. But that’s a really sorry excuse for a victory lap. And the media’s reaction shows just how far our expectations have fallen. Think about it… If the proportion of Americans who are working was the same as just 10 years ago, America would have nine million additional people employed right now. And that’s not the worst of it. I want you to…

Colorado Democrats Driving Businesses Out of State
posted on February 18, 2013 by Giacomo Evidently, Colorado Democrats aren’t concerned about their 7.6% unemployment rate with their newly proposed legislation. On Friday, the Colorado State House of Representatives which is controlled by Democrats, used a voice vote to give an early approval House Bill 1224 that would drive out some of the state’s businesses. The bill is designed to limit all ammunition magazines to 15 rounds or fewer. If the bill is passed and become law in a state known for hunting and gun ownership, at least two companies said that they would relocate to states that are more gun friendly. Magpul, who employs around 600 people, manufactures…

Watch: Greeks Fight For Food: “I Never Imagined That I Would End Up Here”
Mac Slavo February 7th, 2013 SHTFplan.com Once a bastion of European success and center of tourism, the country of Greece has become the harbinger of things to come for the rest of the world’s developed nations. Not long ago Greeks were enjoying high paid salaries, early retirements, excess cash, and seemingly never ending economic growth. Today, just a short time after a financial collapse that rocked global financial markets, Europe’s darling has turned into a frightening example of what happens when governments and their people take on more debt than they can ever hope to repay. The end result is a warning to the rest of us. Hundreds of people…

Worldwide corruption deepens as evidenced by the fact that, in the last 3 years, 25% of the people polled paid bribes to officials of governments and institutions empowered by governments. [In general, as governments increase their power to legally coerce citizens, corruption will follow at the same rate.] Bloomberg 2010 Dec 10 (Cached) Canada calls for global leaders to bind the US into complying with its CO2 emission-reduction pledges made at Copenhagen. This is a strategy to get Russia and Japan to sign a new treaty to limit CO2 even if the U.S. does not become a party to the Kyoto Treaty. [It’s all based on the global-warming myth that…

US: State Attorney Generals are investigating ‘Foreclosuregate’ but no prosecutions for wrongdoing are being considered. The focus, instead, is on how to keep homeowners in their homes and how to keep the banks in business. [In the aftermath of the S&L fraud of the 1980s, there were over a thousand felony convictions. The recent mortgage fraud is 40 times greater but NO convictions, not even investigations. The above cartoon explains it all.] USAwatchdog Posted 2010 Oct 29 (Cached) US: Transportation Security Administration begins an ‘enhanced pat-down’ procedure at airports starting today. US: TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) $700 billion bailouts, signed into law in 2008, will expire October 3. Treasury Secretary Geithner boasts that it was a success because the money was paid back or soon will be. [Mainstream media plays this theme without questioning the details. However, it mostly is a bookkeeping trick to pacify taxpayers prior to elections. We predict that, when all facts are known, the government indirectly is providing the money to pay itself back.] Yahoo 2010 Oct 1 (Cached) US government apologizes to Guatemala for intentionally infecting hundreds of people with syphilis and gonorrhea without their knowledge [These so-called scientific experiments occurred in the 1940’s, but…

John Holdren, Obama’s Science Advisor, is urging the public to stop using the phrase “global warming” and replace it with “global climate disruption.” [Smart move for the mythmakers, because the reality of global cooling becomes more evident with each passing month, and the phrase “climate change” is not scary enough to justify the massive taxes and government controls these people have in mind.] Daily Mail 2010 Sep 17 (Cached) In Louisiana, just days after a tide of BP oil hits the waterways, there is the largest fish kill in living memory, including a dead whale. The Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife says there is no connection to the oil spill. [Is…
